Community

Giving back is part of our ethos at Woods and we encourage our staff to give back to the community when they can. As well as helping out at the Race4Life event, some of Woods’ staff  will do a day's community service of their particular choice or help out Auckland City Mission’s hands-on at Christmas.

Race4Life

Woods is a foundation supporter of the Race4Life Trust and has been involved with the trust since its establishment in 2015. Race4Life Trust is a nonprofit organisation that performs wishes for people who are in palliative care to raise their spirits and well-being. Woods is proud to support the day to day running of the Wish Service by providing administrative support, an office of the General Manager, and various donations throughout the year.

Race4Life Annual Event

The Race4Life annual event provides an opportunity for palliative care patients and their loved ones to enjoy a day out at the Hampton Downs race track. Woods has supported and helped at this big race day since its beginning in 2008. Each year, a number of Woods’ staff help out at the event with activities such as lifting patients in and out of a helicopter, or into cars. It’s a huge day that our staff really enjoy.

Woods’ Midwinter Function

Each year, the Woods’ team uses their midwinter function as another opportunity to give back to the community. Our staff enjoy knowing that they are giving back and helping someone else out, especially as some of the sites our staff work on are in less fortunate communities. Previous midwinter functions have included the Helping Hands project and a Build a Bike Challenge that supported a charitable trust for foster children.
