ONTRACK, who are responsible for building the infrastructure associated with the electrification of the Auckland metropolitan passenger rail network, have initiated a series of improvements that once completed will allow more frequent and reliable passenger services to visit Auckland's Central Business District.

As part of this infrastructure upgrade ONTRACK commissioned Woods to undertake the design of the Quay Park rail track realignment in downtown Auckland. This entailed the construction of a new siding track as well as the realignment of the existing track section.

The realignment was successfully completed within the scheduled rail closures of January 2009, thus allowing for an increase in the capacity of trains being able to travel in and out of Auckland's Britomart Station.
