The North South Link, once complete, will be the main transport route linking Millwater, domicile for 5000 residents, to northern Orewa and to the Northern Gateway extension of State Highway 1.

WFH Properties commissioned Woods to undertake the planning, design and administration of the North South Link, being a 1 kilometre long, 8.5 metre wide carriageway which traverses two bridges, the Orewa Bridge (140 metres long) and the North Bridge (60 metres long). The design and build venture between Woods and Fulton Hogan, includes 15 metre cuts through two hillsides and the upgrading of local arterials to accommodate the projected traffic volumes generated from the Millwater development.

Our team developed a series of design options for this project which then allowed a highly detailed assessment to be presented to the Client and local authority. This assessment has resulted in a relatively low cost solution that will significantly improve traffic flow within northern Orewa. The North South Link is to be completed by 2011.
