LEAD Alliance

Dry homes and safe communities shouldn’t just be a dream for families that rely on the government to provide homes for them.

LEAD Alliance was formed to bring together industry experts in order to streamline land development of government-owned land and free up building constraints so that livable and safe communities are available to everyone.

LEAD Alliance is an alliance comprising of three design consultancies, including Harrison Grierson, Woods and Tonkin & Taylor and two civil contractors including Dempsey Wood, and Hick Bros.

However, to enable the delivery of dry homes and safe communities, we need the invaluable experience of individuals at Woods to put their hands up to assist at LEAD Alliance and support the Woods wāhine and tāne that are based at LEAD Alliance.

Wellbeing for the community

Working at LEAD Alliance isn’t all about sitting down at a desk to do a job.

Every seat in our team plays a critical role in enabling the delivery of warm, healthy, and affordable housing, which has been long overdue in New Zealand.

It might go without saying, but this type of housing is vital to the health and wellbeing of residents, and the current demand of housing means this is more critical than ever.

The work we deliver often harbours close connections to our team. With some of our team having grown up in state housing, we have a better understanding than most of the gravity of what we’re trying to accomplish.

Our team, along with Woods and other members of the alliance, have witnessed the impact this work can have, and it’s often dramatic.

From derelict housing that creates a challenging environments for people to live in, to housing that is far warmer and drier reminds us of the profoundness of all of our efforts on a daily basis.

You and your career

Establishing healthier environments that have the potential to alter the lives of Kiwis starts with supporting our team.

We first take the time to get each individual coming in from their home company to define what they wish to achieve while being at LEAD Alliance. This includes how long they’d like to be involved with LEAD Alliance, their career prospects, and areas they’d like to upskill, so we can develop a pathway that encourages personal and professional growth.

No matter your discipline, there is an abundance of unique opportunities for you to excel.

Working within an alliance model has increasingly become the norm for large scale projects in New Zealand.

As the only land development alliance in New Zealand, LEAD Alliance’s approach to delivering these large-scale infrastructure and land development projects is considered cutting-edge. The experience gained from working in such a model will benefit your skillset for future projects.

There is also the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment that combines different organisations/Alliance partners and disciplines, all working together holistically towards a common goal.

Many of the projects we have coming through are Brownfield-focused, an area that will likely occupy much of the industry moving forward. At LEAD Alliance, you will have access to these projects, something that will significantly inform your skillset and career progression.

With more of these projects likely to come through, we are taking measures to ensure we are instilling a supportive and nurturing environment for LEAD Alliance staff to learn and grow and increase the overall skill set of Woods to deliver these Brownfield projects.

LEAD Alliance and beyond

The scale of the LEAD Alliance projects that we deliver means that teamwork is paramount to the success of everything we do. In recent months, we have been making efforts to better support our team.

This includes keeping the Woods team closely by us. Woods’ CEO, David Kidd and Director Mark Williams make regular monthly visits to the LEAD Alliance office located at Quay Street to speak to the team and listen to any feedback.

Some of the initiatives that have been implemented at LEAD Alliance include a monthly hui, weekly visits from the office ‘Sweet Tooth Fairy’, and off-site Friday drinks.

As the incoming workload of state housing developments and superlots are rapidly building, we are eager to get more of the skills from the Woods team into our offices.

If you are interested in having a discussion about the support, you can do for the community and opportunities LEAD Alliance can bring you, express your interest to your manager.
